We’ve received a number of requests for more adult-only social events to be organised by the county. Therefore, we’d like to gauge the types of events that our volunteers would be interested in. We’d be grateful if you could complete the short survey at the bottom of this page to let us know. The current options are as follows:
Weekend in London
This would potentially be in the autumn term of 2026 and would consist of travelling to London by coach on a Saturday morning, accommodation at Pax Lodge (shared rooms) with breakfast, a matinee theatre show on the Sunday followed by the coach home. There could be the option of eating out in London on the Saturday evening, or games at Pax Lodge. There is also an option pinning ceremony at Pax Lodge on the Sunday morning.
Other weekend away
This would be at a guiding centre (or former centre such as Waddow Hall) with traditional guiding activities and possibly some training built in.
Daytime only activity day
This would be an activity day where leaders could socialise and perhaps try out some of the new county initiatives such as the “Body & Soul” resource pack. There would be plenty of down time to catch up with guiding friends, relax and network.
Evening only activity
This would be a adult-only evening for all volunteers and may take the form of a quiz night, a barn dance, hog roast with live music or other social activity.
