Charlotte Beardmore, a member of 3rd Stone Guides, recently gained her campaigning badge. As part of the badge Charlotte decided to start a campaign for girls and boys at primary and first schools to be able to have separate changing rooms/areas when changing for PE lessons. Charlotte arranged to meet Jacqueline Brown, former labour parliamentary candidate for Stone, Great Whirley and Penkridge. Charlotte discussed her campaign with Jacqueline over a large pot of tea!

Charlotte said, “Jacqueline was really appreciative of my efforts and answered all my questions”. My campaign has received lots of supportive comments and almost 50 signatures.

Jacqueline subsequently sent a letter to Charlotte and said that she would be sending details of Charlotte’s campaign to the Bridget Phillipson, the Education Secretary.

Jacqueline also wrote,” I am impressed that the Girlguiding organisation has a badge for campaigning. This shows that your organisation knows how important it is for girl to develop their own opinions and to get involved with changing society for the better”.

Charlotte’s guide leaders are all very proud of her campaigning zeal. When asked about her campaign, Charlotte said ,” my campaign should work and make a good change in school life”.
