The 1st Response Syllabus is split into 3 sessions. You can either complete the course in one full 6-hour day or complete the sessions separately.
Session 1: Face to face theory and practical session combined (2 hours).
Sessions 2&3: Theory session via Zoom.
This training is for Sessions 2&3.
There is also now an e-learning aspect to the 1st Response course and this can be completed either before or immediately after you have completed all three sessions of the course. Your GO record will not be updated until the e-learning and all three sessions are complete. The e-learning module can be found on the learning platform: https://learning.girlguiding.org.uk
Once all 3 sessions and your e-learning are complete, your 1st Response training will be valid for 3 years. You’ll need to redo the full training course and e-learning every 3 years in order to make sure your training is up to date.
As this is a virtual training we prefer you to put your camera on – it is much nicer for the trainers to see participants as well as you seeing them. We understand that there may be reasons for your cameras to be off but if you don’t have your camera on for any reason, then you must take an active part in the training either by speaking or by regularly entering responses into the chat. Trainers need to know that you have understood the training and, if they can’t see your physical reactions, then they can only try to understand by your responses. It is difficult to mark someone as attended if they have not had any interaction with you.
IMPORTANT: Please ensure that when booking you provide details of an emergency contact who can be contacted during the course if needed (not yourself). This person needs to know they are your emergency contact and be available if needed. This is required even for virtual sessions.
The Zoom joining details will be included in the booking confirmation email that you will be sent as soon as you have booked.
