What is parkrun?
Parkrun is a free, weekly, 5km timed run / walk that takes place in many locations around the world. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in. The events take place in pleasant surroundings and encourage people of every ability to take part; from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians; from juniors to those with more experience; all are very welcome!

What are Girlguiding doing?
Girlguiding Midlands are organising a region wide takeover!

We want as many girls and volunteers to attend parkrun events to promote Girlguiding and have fun doing so! So, if you have been thinking about giving parkrun a go, this is the ideal week to choose. We do ask that you run or walk in uniform to help promote Girlguiding. Runners can be any age – but under 11s will need to be accompanied by an adult. Hanley parkrun recommend not having more than 2-3 children with each adult.

But I don’t like running/walking!
If you don’t want to do the 5km then you can still take part by either cheering on the participants or volunteering at the event as a marshal. Again we just ask that you wear uniform to help promote Girlguiding. Volunteers need to be over 18 to act as marshals, to help set up and clear away, to scan the all-important barcodes or to give out finishing tokens. Girls of any age can assist leaders in any of the volunteer roles but cannot be left unsupervised.

Where is it taking place?
Hanley Park,  Stoke-on-Trent
