There is some fantastic work going on across Staffordshire to keep the Guiding spirit alive until we can resume our face to face meetings.
However, we recognise and understand that for various reasons regular Guide meetings are unable to be a priority for some of us right now, including for many key workers, members who are supporting family or members who feel they need to take a break from technology due to working at home.
Based on feedback from the various division ‘virtual sleepovers’, as well as the county ‘Wild Night In’ we do know that girls have found virtual Guiding to be a really positive influence during the lockdown, offering a break from school work and bringing families together.
In light of this, we are planning to offer a ‘summer camp’ programme in order to encourage all Guides across the county to experience virtual Guiding, should they wish to. This will include a variety of programme and non-programme activities, to allow girls to continue to work towards their theme awards as well as to offer girls a space to socialise with old friends and make new ones. We hope that this ‘summer camp’ offering will also help to retain girls ready for the when the time comes for us to finally meet face-to-face in units again.
Parents can register their daughter’s interest in our summer camp by completing the Registration Form before 26th July.
