Mrs Kath Becket of Stone and Eccleshall Division has received a richly deserved Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award was given in recognition of the contribution that Kath has given to Girlguiding not only in Stone and Eccleshall but also in Worthington where she started her Guiding service. Many of you will remember Kath for her years of guiding in Stone with Cath Gaskin, for her sterling work with the Stone Scout and Guide band (looking after the band equipment and accompanying the band on trips abroad), for her invaluable help in countless gang shows (plenty of neckers to be rolled!) and for the last thirty years as Badge Secretary to Stone and Eccleshall and to Stone Outward divisions.
Kath is now a resident of The Manor Nursing Home but this has not stopped her carrying out her role as Badge Secretary to the units. She has also become an unofficial Ambassador for Girlguiding at The Manor as she is still as passionate about her guiding even at the age of 88!
The award was given at an afternoon tea party which was attended by guiding. Thanks must go to Autumn House who very kindly laid on refreshments for the tea party. The Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, leaders and friends of Guiding in Stone and Eccleshall are so very, very proud of Kath and all her achievements and we wish her many more years of service to Girlguiding!
Kath is shown in the photo receiving her Award from Sheila Slaney, Division Commissioner.
