What is mentoring?

Guiding needs mentors to support members through many different qualifications. A mentor does not need to be the fount of all knowledge – just a friendly face who will offer support and guidance to help another member achieve their qualification. Here are some examples:

• Other leaders need help and support to complete their Leadership Qualification. You could help them by talking through how you achieved yours and by giving them ideas.
• Anyone working towards and outdoor qualification will be supported by a mentor. Have you completed any of the outdoor qualifications? Would you be able to support someone else?
• Commissioners who are starting the Induction Programme need the support of another commissioner. If you are a commissioner, why not contact your County Commissioner to offer your help?
