When and where is UNITY 2018?
We are pleased to say that in 2018 we have a new and exciting venue. From Saturday 28th July to Saturday 4th August you can join us at Abbotsholme School, Rocester, Uttoxeter ST14 5BS.
When and how can I book for UNITY 2018?
Registration is open now and closes on 1st December 2017.

What age range is the camp aimed at?
The camp is for all members of Girlguiding age 10-16 years. However, for those age 16 and above, we have exciting opportunities for you to be part of our Service Team.
What are the ratios of adults to girls?
As with Girlguiding current policy you need to maintain an adult to child ratio of 1:12.
How much does it cost to bring my group to Unity 2018?
For UK bookings, the cost per girl is £170. This includes all activities, entertainment, camping, t-shirt and badge. The price excludes transport to and from Unity 2018 and food.
The cost per Leader and Young Leader not participating in activities is £40.
For international guests the cost is £300 per person. This includes camping fees, activities, Unity 2018 t-shirt, badge, neckerchief, lanyard and the use of all services and facilities. It also includes collection from a local train station if needed, all meals, hosts on camp, bedding and a welcome gift.
Can Leaders attend for part of the week?
Yes they can. Fees will be pro rata at £3 per person per night with an opportunity to purchase a uniform pack for £20. There will be no charge for visitors to the site but again, they have an opportunity to purchase a uniform pack for £20.
Do I need to accompany my girls to activities?
As with all Guiding activities, adult to child ratios will need to be maintained. Adults with a Girlguiding DBS will be required to supervise activities. This could be a Unit Helper or Residential Occasional Helper.
Can Leaders bring their own children?
Yes they can. Girls age 9 and below and boys up to the age of 16 can come to Unity at a cost of £15 for the week and this includes free entry to the kids club. Children under the age of 1 are free. All children will camp with their parent, but the parent cannot be included in the ratio of adults to girls.
Boys age 10 and over must sleep with a supervising adult in the staff camping area, which is away from the main camp.
I would like to attend Unity 2018 but am unable to camp.
There is limited indoor accommodation available. Please email email@example.com for further information. Please give the name of the person requiring a bed, membership number and unit.
Please also note that you must maintain your adult to girl ratios on the main camp during the night. Anyone sleeping indoors cannot be counted in the ratios.
What is the payment schedule?
Once you have booked, an invoice will be emailed to you for the deposits. Deposits will need to be paid by 31st December 2017. Cheques should be made payable to “Staffordshire Guides Unity International Camp”.
There will be no refunds after the 1st January 2018 and any places booked by that date will need to be paid for in full.
A further invoice for the balance will be sent out by 1st March 2018 with a payment date of 1st April 2018.

What is the difference between a Camper and a Visitor?
A camper will stay at Unity overnight for either all or part of the week. A visitor can attend the camp to assist Units, Districts, Divisions, or Staff teams but they will not stay overnight. This can be for all or part of the week.
What is a Uniform Pack?
The Uniform Pack comprises t-shirt, neckerchief, lanyard and badge.
Unity is a non-smoking site. Designated areas will be provided.
Can I bring my dog to Unity?
Dogs are not allowed anywhere on the school site for the duration of the camp.
How do we get hold of someone to ask questions?

Can I bring my Camper Van or Caravan?
Yes you can. During dry weather, caravans and camper vans will have a designated area on the Staff camp site. On the off chance that it may rain, you will be found a spot away from the camp site, on a hard surface. No electric hook-ups are available. Can I bring my Rainbows, Brownies and Guides to visit Unity 2018?
Yes! We are holding a special open day on Sunday 29th July. Further information can be found on our Day Visitor page. We would really love to welcome you.
Can we access the site to set up on the Friday?
Unit Leaders may bring their equipment from 5.00pm onwards on Friday 27th July 2018. No one may stay overnight on Friday. The camp will not be fully functional until Saturday 28th July at 10.00am, Until then services will be minimal. Security Staff will be on duty from Friday evening.
Can we bring vehicles on site on the Saturday?
If units are bringing their equipment with them on Saturday, no vehicle will be allowed on site after 10.00am. After this time equipment will be transported from the car park to the camp location by the site team.
Do we need to complete a REN (Residential Event Notification) form?
Yes! Follow usual Girlguiding policies and procedures for Going Away With, this includes ensuring you have a home contact in place.
Can I take my Going Away With licence at Unity?
Yes. Follow normal procedures for Going Away With assessment.
Do I need a Going Away With licence to attend Unity?
No. We have enough licence holders on site to cover everyone. However, you still need to complete a Residential Event Notification form. Your commissioner can advise you on the completion of this.
