We’re very excited to announce that GO Outdoors will be supporting our camp skills day. They’ll be providing tent demonstrations and answering all of your camping and equipment questions. So if you’re in the market for a new tent or just want a nosey at their latest equipment then pop along and take a look.
Other activities taking place at our camp skills day include:
- Camp cooking – food storage, meal ideas and cookery demonstrations;
- Firelighting and fire safety along with cooking s’mores on an open fire;
- Camp equipment and kit lists – how to create the perfect bedding roll!
- Whittling demonstrations;
- Campfire singing sessions – songs to take back to your unit;
- Swaps workshop (small fee for crafts)
- The necessary paperwork – risk assessments, RENs etc.
The event will run from 10am to 4pm, but you don’t need to stay for the full duration, we are running this as a drop-in event with the sessions running on repeat throughout the day. This is a free-to-attend event but there may be a small charge for some of the activities to cover crafts, food etc so bring some loose change with you.
Please wear sensible outdoor clothing and footwear and bring a packed lunch. Other equipment will be provided.
Please note that this event is for volunteers and not our young members.
IMPORTANT: Please ensure that when booking you provide details of an emergency contact who can be contacted during the event if needed (not yourself). This person should be informed that you have nominated them as your emergency contact.
